The Park Levelt of St-Marc has been, this Tuesday, May 10, 2011, witnessed of a great sporting event. A historic football match between the players "Friends of Martelly" and those of "All stars of St-Marc". President Martelly that does a lot of working visits across the country took the time to play for the pleasure of his constituents.
It was about 3:00 pm when the first groups of spectators began to invest the park. Over an hour later, thousands of compatriots were already massed in every corner of the field. They made the trip to see play their leader, who represents a real change at the level of the function.
At 4:45 PM, the President Martelly is arrived by helicopter on the lawn. After exiting the aircraft, the future head of state threw itself on the ground like to express his joy. Ovation by the audience, he then circled the field to greet the public.
Wreaths of flowers and a trophy was given to President Martelly, honored for his contributions to the advancement of the king sport in the country. He was deeply touched by the gesture. "This match illustrates the love that I have for the football [...] I will be alongside young people and I continue to support sport in general", he has promised. He also handed over balloons and awards to personalities that have shaped and supported the Haitian football whose Ti Pierre Bayonne, Nono Jean-Baptiste aka Zé Nono, Johnny Descolines, Jean Roland Datiguenarve, Roro Nelson and a young player of the team of St-Marc. After this ceremony, the professional classical orchestra of St. Marc has performed the national anthem, followed by a photo session.
At 5:32 PM, the match started and it is the 56th President of the Republic of Haiti, which launched the game. At this sportive event, Mr. Michel Martelly joined with a pleiad of artists and ancient glories of Haitian football. For about 40 minutes, former player of Don Bosco of Petion-Ville has been the delight of the spectators by his touch of ball, passes and dribbles humorous. His smile lit up the faces of bystanders.
The President Michel Martelly did not score a goal during the match, but he and his team won by 5 goals to 3. "It's a great thing for the country! This is the first time that I have attended a football match played by a President", welcomed a man in his forties, at his exit of the Park Levelt of St-Marc.
The elected President which makes, among other things, of the education, agriculture and job creation its top priorities, has renewed his commitment and determination to bring the change promised to the Haitian people. He is also convinced that the proximity and field visits are a source of inspiration and information in this crusade of worker at the service of the people.
