The 16th Pan American Games taking place this year in Guadalajara [Mexico] from October 15 to 30, 2011. 12 Haitian athletes participate in these competitions in five disciplines: Athletics - Judo - Tennis - Taekwondo, and Weightlifting.
Tuesday, October 18, in taekwondo, the Haitian Sanon Tudor (80 kg) will face the Honduran Miguel Ferrera. Tudor Sanon was born January 14, 1984, represented Haiti at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, being his national team's flagbearer. Bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 in the category of over 80 kgs. In the XIII Central American and Caribbean University Games of 2010, he won gold in the under 87kg (already champion in 2008 in San Salvador). Gold Medal in the last edition of the National Championship of Taekwondo.
"Although we have not won a qualifying place in the playoffs of the Pan American Games that took place in Peru, we were able to get an invitation. And it's Tudor Sanon that will be our representative at these Games. We made choice of him for his experience," has informed Léo Cartright President of the Haitian Association of Taekwondo.
Sanon Tudor, for his part, expressed his satisfaction to represent his country internationally. "I am very happy to participate in the Pan American Games. This is an opportunity to realize my dream which is just to grab a Pan American medal for my country. I know that the combat will not be easy, but I will do my best to achieve my goal"
