Under a radiant sun in Chamrousse (France) Jean Pierre Roy our Haitian skier known as "Rasta Piquett" has once again made talk of Haiti this weekend. Jean Pierre ranked 78th at the World Ski Championships, was the guest of honor at the 20th edition 20th edition of the
Challenge régional des Cadres fédéraux hosted by the Comité du Dauphiné of the French Ski Federation (FFS).
During the race on Saturday, a giant slalom with approximately 160 riders at the start (skiing, snowboarding and telemark) Jean Pierre ran in its beautiful combination to the colors of Haiti and has brilliantly finished 5th of his category.
On the slope and to the arrival, all riders encouraged him and congratulated him of what he did for Haiti. On arrival over the
caliquots of the FFS, a banner "Welcome HAITI JP" welcomed our star.
During the lunch in the multipurpose room of Chamrousse, the announcement of Jean Pierre Roy as distinguished guest sparked a thunderous applause throughout the room, causing a deep emotion before so much sympathy for the Haitian cause.
All weekend on the slopes, in ski lifts, in the street, Jean Pierre seemed familiar to all! People wanted to take pictures, make him sign an autograph or simply talk to him a few seconds, talk with the man who represents Haiti on the ski areas. Even his son Mathis, who had accompanied his father in Garmisch Partenkirchen, told him: "Daddy you're a true Star. "
For "Rasta Piquett", after his international media coverage during the World Championships, is a painstaking task, each individual meeting is important and represents the small creek to keep alive the great river of the generosity for Haiti.
