Mayor Jean-Yves Jason (right), the Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Mayor Wilson Jeudi (left), the Mayor of Delmas, a suburb of Port-au-Prince. Both were VIPs at the New Look Foundation World Leadership Awards event. The Honorable Mayor Jean-Yves Jason, Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Haiti was one of the VIPs at the “World Leadership Awards” event hosted by Haiti’s own Usher and his “New Look Foundation” (http://www.ushersnewlook.org/).

Many Atlanta leaders committed to assisting Mayor Jason in building another Port-au-Prince also attended the event. The work of Usher’s New Look Foundation ensures young people have the tools they need to be global leaders. Every year, New Look mentors hundreds of youth as they discover their power as global leaders. On Thursday, August 5th, more than 75 of these emerging global leaders, the young men and women of the New Look Foundation packed 100 “Promise Packs of Hope”, backpacks filled with what every student needs packed especially for the orphans of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. These backpacks will be delivered to Port-au-Prince in time for the start of the 2010-2011 school years. We are grateful to Usher and the New Look Foundation for what they have already done, and what they’ll continue to do to empower youth as global leaders.

The Mayors of Haiti have embarked on a global tour and now is in the United States. Their purpose is to continue to keep the need for assistant for Haiti in the forefront of the World and the Haitian Diaspora. Their stops include Atlanta, New York, Miami, and New Orleans.
