Announced in October, the Head of State confirms in a statement, that in consultation with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), the new school year is postponed to October 3, to allow the Presidency, to the donors and all other relevant sectors, to be better prepared for this new school year, while taking into account the difficulties arising from the current political situation...
In this regard, last Saturday, on a local radio Dr. Josette Bijou, who had sent an open letter to the President of the Republic, to make of the next school year a success
http://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-3532-haiti-education-open-letter-... , said that she was in favor to the postponement of the school year in October.
However, her position is conditional, to a good planning and to provisions that can alleviate the magnitude of the problems, which according to her "appear to be more serious this year" citing among other things "the financial situation of parents and the wages of the teachers."
She suggests to the President Martelly, to open his technical team in charge of the education and proposes him a meeting with the departmental Directors so that they present the current situation in their region, in order to establish a schedule for the implementation of the measures envisaged.
